Hair can be beautiful…until it grows somewhere we don’t want it.
The Many Approaches to Hair Removal
Unwanted hair may not be a medical condition, but it is certainly an important issue. Why else would humans have developed more than half a dozen ways to remove unwanted hair? Some of the many ways to remove unwanted hair include:
- Chemical depilatories
- Laser and intense pulsed light therapy
- Anti-androgenic drugs
- Antiprotozoal drugs (eflornithine)
These many types of hair removal methods can be divided into two basic types: temporary and permanent. Temporary hair removal simply removes visible hair and leaves the hair follicle intact. Permanent hair removal methods, on the other hand, not only remove the hair, but disrupt or destroy the hair follicle itself. Temporary hair removal may only last a few weeks or just several hours. Permanent hair removal methods are not truly permanent, but they can last for six months or more.
A Word about Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is rather unique among the various hair removal methods. It is considered a permanent hair removal process, like electrolysis. Thus, the area treated with laser hair removal tends to stay hairless for quite some time. Unlike electrolysis, however, laser hair removal is virtually painless. Pain is the number one complaint of people who undergo electrolysis for hair removal. The Bella Sana Medical Spa uses the Cutera XEO laser system for cosmetic treatments, including laser hair removal. The Cutera XEO system provides the flexibility to provide both laser and intense pulsed light therapy. This enables the experts at Bella Sana to remove hair of various thicknesses and densities and treat people with various skin tones and skin types. Indeed, the truPulse™ Nd:YAG Laser included in the Cutera XEO system has been specifically optimized for safe, efficient, effective hair removal. Bella Sana offers a full range of hair removal options, including laser hair removal.
